yelpie reviews! (unsolicited - the best kind)

Hands down the best food cart in Portland town.
Brunchbox just makes the good shit. No pantywaste vegan crap you're only eating because of your liberal guilty conscious. No ethnically charged concoctions that only cater to a small segment of the market. No waiting 15 minutes for hand-crafted artisan pasta or fair trade pizza whateverthehell. This is burgers, grilled cheese, breakfast sandwiches and all the other artery clogging delicacies that regular blue collar folk like to chow down on.
I've probably stopped at Brunchbox half a dozen times in my two months living in Portland. In fact I just had sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel before I went to work today. I usually get the grilled cheese on texas toast. (Most of their breads are homemade) My next comment is going to be easy to understand...
BRUNCHBOX MAKES THE BEST GRILLED CHEESE.
No gimmicky school bus. Just two slices of bread, one slice of cheese, one oiled up hot griddle, and a crispy piece of heaven in your hand 3 minutes later. Best of all it only costs two bucks unlike the overinflated prices at other spots around town.
The staff aren't weird hippies or hipsters. Just regular dudes. Super friendly too. They know they're loved and they show it back. Try the Redonkadonk if you dare. It was just took Oregon's spot on the 50 fattiest foods in America list on http://health.com or something.
Another great thing about Brunchbox is that you can use your debit card. Yes, it's an extra 25-cent charge, but at least they give you that option. Beware of vagrants who like to frequent this stretch of food carts at 5th and Stark, but it's totally worth it. Go there and eat something.

Hands down the best food cart in Portland town.
if www.thisiswhyyourefat.com doesn't have a picture of the Redonkadonk burger, their website will never truly be complete.
Burger. Egg. Ham. Bacon. Spam. On Texas Toast.
As I walked up to order this monstrosity, the guy inside the cart kind of laughed in the sort of excited fashion that made me wonder if there was some terrible joke that I was missing. He stated simply, "You want the redonk!? Alright!"
That burger was amazing. I know "amazing" is just another $2 word to describe this $9 burger but.... I mean.... what do you think a burger with spam, bacon, ham and an egg tastes like with cheddar cheese on texas toast, in the cold, piping hot tastes like?
Goddamned amazing! That's how!
I enjoyed every bite but I have to admit that when I first unwrapped it I thought for a moment, "What am I doing?"
After it was finished, I was still a bit hungry but decided against ordering anything else. I think I took in enough calories to last through tomorrow's lunch. Looks like it's water only for the rest of the day.
My heart feels kind of.... funny.
That burger should come with a warning from the FDA. Do not intake more than one of these a month --- maybe two months, if you know what's good for you.

portland is officially bombarded with foodcarts trying to reinvent the foodcart. brunchbox pulls no punches and triumphs solid sammys above all that noise.
great music blasting out the window over the top of every order - check.
attentive, spot on service (especially considering the downtown block!) - check and check .
mind blowing burger and sammy concoctions to entice and climax any hardcore foodies ravenousness - triple check.
best hangover cure sammy downtown - CHECK.
i recently rode my bike downtown on a blurry, hungover tuesday (dont judge! i work in the service industry yo). i was pleasantly rejuvenated and satisfied with their quip service and menu options. have you read that sh*T! wow! i ordered the veggie youcanhascheeseburger! on texas fried toast with extra toms and cheez. no gruff on the cook, he was happy to please and i was happy to tip. i put the sammy in my pack, rode down to water front and fell in love with portland all over again. yes, i am a vegetarian writing a review for a brunch/burger joint. step back carnivores and listen up.
if you are craving a well priced, phenomenal, "outside the box," american, hearty, sammy dtown - eat here and i guarantee you will be back and tell 3+peeps about it.

What can I say about Brunchbox that hasn't already been said? The burgers here are to die for, and some, such as the Redonkadonk, may actually cause you to die, but it would be a beautiful death.
Today I had the spicy burger, which had roasted jalepenos, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and bacon. It was $5.50. I could pay twice as much at a sit down burger joint and it wouldn't be half as good as this burger is. It was perfect. From the amount of toppings, to the slightly crispy on the outside, but oh so moist and tender on the inside burger, it was perfect. Easily one of the best burgers I have ever had. Why the hell didn't I get two?
I want to go back. NOW. I could probably eat here every day, but money and a desire to not have a massive heart attack before I hit 30 are keeping me from that. Even if you aren't downtown, this place is worth the trip.

love me a good burger. I'm super new to the food cart scene, but I'm sure glad I started with Brunchbox. My wife and I hit this place up on a Saturday afternoon before making our way to the Farmer's Market. I had very high expectations while I placed my order for a bacon-cheeseburger. After reading all of the lights-out reviews, I couldn't wait to try. To make a long story short, I quickly placed an order for a second burger. I think it was the well done bacon and the bun that did me in. There was a certain saltiness that topped it all off. With half of the burger in one hand, I handed over cash for another.
For only a couple bucks you get one of the top burgers in Portland. And, it only takes a matter of minutes to get your food! Combining how amazingly awesome the burger is with it's cheapness and convenience, it definitely has the makings for best in show.
